Conceived as a set of guns with engines attached, the Peregrine-class is a fast moving gunboat designed to engage smaller ships in pitched combat. Designed in 2056 AY, the class is nearing the end of its service life. Most examples have undergone a number of revisions and modifications, most notably the replacement of the class’s original armament with the then experimental EPB Cannons.
Most ships were subsequently retired after the
various faults in the EPB cannons were discovered, but a number remain in use
thanks to their utility as courier ships and still competitive performance.
